The Scurry Rat Misstep Wheel with living Chamber was designed to allow removal of rods for gait studies as well as general activity studies in rats or similar sized animals. The polycarbonate running wheel contains 82 removable .188-inch (4.8 mm) diameter anodized aluminum rods. Rods are on .52-inch (13.1 mm) centers with .33-inch (8.3mm) gap for maximum durability and animal comfort. Any rod or series of rods may be removed by unscrewing 2 screws which hold each rod to the wheel rims. The wheel has 13.31 inch (338mm) inner diameter and turns with less than 8 grams of force. Easy removal of the Scurry Sensor/Counter component (without tools) simplifies and speeds up regular cleaning and maintenance.
